DREAM ADVENTURE AT THE TRANSFRONTIER PARK
WILD ADVENTURE INTO THE MOZAMBICAN BUSH!
Machampane Luxury Tented Camp offers an unforgettable bushveld experience in a truly unspoilt pristine wilderness area of Moçambique’s Parque Nacional do Limpopo. Bounded by the Limpopo and Olifants rivers, with the mighty Shingwedzi flowing through its heart and the spectacular vistas of the Lebombo Mountains, the park is home to a wide variety of bird and wildlife. This magnificent wilderness area lies adjacent to Kruger National Park and is Moçambique’s contribution to the 3,3 million hectare Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park. Explore this undiscovered corner of Southern Africa on one of the wilderness trails or during daily safaris.
ACTIVITIES
WALKING SAFARIS
Each of the walking safaris is guaranteed to produce its own special experience; from the sunset over the Lebombo, to the call of a fish eagle in the riverine forest, the trumpeting of elephant amongst the Mopane or the call of lion as they prowl the bush.
Prefer the comfort by coming back at Machampane Camp every evening during your stay by choosing the guided early morning and late afternoon walks formula.
Or prefer the big adventure; spend four days and three nights into the heart of bush. Accommodation is a typical rustic itinerant camp with dome tents and bush ablutions. You will enjoy your 12-15km daily guided walks follow the river course or explore the Lebombo plateau close to the boundary with Kruger. Located in an area that has been re-stocked with game in an initiative with Kruger NP, trailists have every prospect of encountering a wide array of wildlife. Choose between your bush walk tour between Palarangala Wilderness Trail and Lebombo Hiking Trail.
CANOEING TRAILS
The Olifants River dramatically exits Kruger through a spectacular gorge in Lebombo range, before being contained by the massive Massingir dam.
Below the dam wall, the Rio Elefantes flows east towards the Moçambique coast and it’s here that your wilderness experience begins. From the meeting point you travel by road through remote villages to the confluence of the Rio Shingwedzi where you enter the amazingly clear water of the Elefantes. Three days are spent paddling the mandering river and camping wild on its tree-lined banks. Perhaps a cast or two for tiger fish or a sighting of elephant before your 70km journey ends at the confluence of the elegant Elefantes and the mighty Limpopo. “A once in a lifetime experience that is the epitome of freedom”
