When Vasco de Gamma, on his journey towards the Indies, made its first stopover on the Eastern coast of Africa, he choose to call at Inhambane Bay. As he was warmly welcomed by the inhabitants, he gave to this land the name of Terra da boa gente, the land of the good people...
More than 500 years later, the area still deserves its name. The tradition of welcome did not disappear and the visitor, between Indian Ocean and sea of coconuts, is seized by the beauty of the landscapes.

Welcome to Terra Profunda, Tofo Beach, Mozambique !
Established in 2003 by Christophe Chazot, a French National leaving in Africa since 15 years, Terra Profunda was the first diving travel agency based in Mozambique. After many years of exploring the deserts of Namibia, the Okavango Delta in Botswana and many other Southern African regions, the next step for this PADI certified Diving Instructor was to discover the hidden secrets of Mozambique in a more “aquatic” environment… hence followed the move to the small coastal village of Tofo, the future Mecca of Mozambique.
Today, Terra Profunda is internationally recognized as a tour operator specialized into Diving in Mozambique and Safaris in Southern Africa.
